India has always been at the forefront of the alternative healing spectrum, globally. The world has always been flocking to us seeking wellness in the body, mind and spirit. Various indigenous modalities and sciences proudly hold their own against the glamour of Western imports, even today. To felicitate these ancient modalities, a grand wellness expo, Aarogyam – The Mystique Fair, was held in the Royal Plaza Hotel, New Delhi, on October 19. In its 19th edition, the fair was an initiative towards creating a ‘Rog Mukta Bharat’, organized by NGO Bharat Nirman.

“The inspiration behind this event was a recent quote by the PM where he mentioned yoga, meditation, spirituality, naturopathy, medical astrology, ayurveda, gems, crystals and rudrakshas as ‘India’s gifts to the world’. Honoring his sentiment that matches with our ideology, we aim to provide a holistic wellness platform to people and help them lead a sound and healthy life,” says Ravinder Bhandari, Convener of Bharat Nirman.

The one-day event pulsated with excitement as the who’s who of the city thronged the venue to grab a slice of the ancient Indian health, peace and spirituality pie. The sprawling exhibition area hosted a multitude of stalls offering alternative healing modalities like acupressure, reiki, pranic healing, chakra energy healing, apart from predictive science sessions on astrology, face reading, palmistry and numerology. Renowned names like Osho World and AOL offered their services and guidance to the participants. Stalls offering health food gathered a number of visitors as many clamoured for the organic products on display. The event also witnessed an award show to felicitate the invaluable contribution of individuals to the ancient healing system of India.
