He had been diagnosed with paralysis with his hand crippled in the beginning of 2012. He also had high blood pressure and the doctors told him he would have to be on medication lifelong and did not even reassure him that his condition would improve. Fortunately, he came across mudra therapy as taught by Ms Suman Chilpunkar. He followed her advice diligently and in one month, he witnessed remarkable improvement. After three months, he returned to complete wellness, and now relies only on mudras for everything. She underwent chemotherapy, radiation and even surgery till the end of 2005 but nothing really improved in her condition and she had become weaker in all respects. By Gods grace, she attended a lecture by Ms Suman Chiplunkar who talk her mudras, pranayam and advised her on a proper diet. Following this regularly, she went for a scan in October 2006 when her tests showed that her cancer had disappeared. She continues doing pranayama and the mudras regularly and has changed her way of life to keep herself healthy and fit. According to Suman K.Chiplunkar, the author, the nerves in the human body carry electromagnetic powers. “These are emitted through the tips of our fingers, nose tip, toes, etc. Our ancient yogis evidenced that creation comprised Panchamaha (five fundamental) mudras . And the entire universe is made up of five elements (Pancha bhoota). These five elements had to be balanced for a healthy life in an individual. It was logically concluded, then, that the five fingers on the human hand were manifestations of five outer elements in nature. For instance, the thumb denotes agni (fire), the index finger vayu (air), middle finger stands for space (aakasha), the ring finger depicts earth (prithvi) and the little finger water (jala).” According to her, fire is the most vital of the elements. In using the thumb to form mudras, she says, we arrest the electromagnetic power from dissipating into external nature. In this way, it circulates within the body and energizes our entire being, and an energized body is less likely to succumb to diseases. We can also alter the mudras, she says, to correct the body’s imbalances. Suman Chiplunkar’s book was published in 2006 in Kannada and in 2008 in English. The last edition has now been published in 2013. Suman says, “I had myself experimented and experienced the outcome of mudras. While I was away in the US, I had to encounter certain minor health ailments and suddenly it struck me that I could try out these mudras which were taught to me some years ago. I did it on a regular basis and the result was amazing. I was moving around like an energetic teenager when I was more than double the age! Then and there I decided I’d help out many with such a simple remedy and bring solace.” The book has details of the mudras, testimonials from people who have benefitted and guidelines for healthy living.
