Dear Reader,
The lead story for September, Express Your True Self is on voicing your truth.
No matter how simple it sounds, it’s never easy. We get programmed since childhood to speak and behave in ways that maintain peace and disturb no one. As children, often our intuition and sense of discernment get dismissed by our elders because our unbiased observations unsettle people around us.
When we get gaslighted or snubbed for being our authentic self, we learn to camouflage it and act in ways that get us the validation and approval of those who matter to us. Add to it the effect of the constant inflow of axioms and various dogmas in our minds, and our real self gets more and more obscured by the beliefs surrounding us.
However, the heavens are witness to the fact that whenever anyone has dared to speak their truth, the act has had a multiple ripple effect, releasing not only them but many others living in the mental prisons created by society. In this regard, I am reminded of a dialogue I had with my sister the other day. She asked me, “Didi, how do you manage to create new paths for yourself and challenge the status quo?”
I replied, “I am able to do this simply because I know that this world is not as real as it seems, and if you take the right action at the right time, you will see favourable results.”
When we see the world as a staged act, meant to help us evolve, then our oppressors and detractors become our divine friends pushing us to find our true Self.
