Winter is there and so many kids and adults are having colds, coughs, bad throat, sneezing, fever and similar symptoms. So I am going to share some simple but super effective tips to build up your immunity. It is applicable for all age groups.
Try to have as much juicy citrus fruits in your diet as possible. If you notice there are oranges and kinoows available every where in the market, both organic and otherwise. This means they are in season and it is best to have all those fruits and vegetables which are local and seasonal. One orange provides 130 percent of your vitamin C needs for the day, 2 percent of vitamin A needs and 6 percent of calcium. Because of their high vitamin C content (over twice the daily need) oranges are associated with boosting the immune system.
Buy them in bulk and store in your house. There are three benefits of doing this. One you may get a discount on your bulk purchase second you don’t need to run to market everyday investing your time and energy and reducing carbon footprint and thirdly you are supporting an indigenous farmer and the agriculture industry.They last easily at room temperature in this season if kept properly in an airy place. You may plan to keep them in a cardboard box with or without holes from the sides and open from the top. Then you may just cover the top with a cotton cloth. Keep it next to kitchen for easy accessibility.
You can eat them just like that or take out fresh juice. Start with a simple hand citrus juicer. You don’t need to invest in big gadgets to make a start. A good quality plastic juicer is quite good to try your hands with juicing. Later you can go for an electrical citrus juicer to meet your everyday requirements and to speed up your work. They are easily available in the marker as well as on online stores in various sizes and prices. A citrus juicer is different from a cold pressed or slow juicer. A citrus juicer has a conical dome and does not crush seeds so the juice remains sweet.
There’s nothing like giving your body a gift of a big glass of fresh juice first thing in the morning! And starting the day with a juice that contains an enormous concentration of nutrients is a wonderful way to do that. You can drink as much as you like throughout the day. Please do not add any sugar or salt. Keep it natural so as it can work on your body and gets absorbed easily. This way it is more effective and healthy. You may take out a large quantity in a glass jar and take it along with you while traveling. It is much better than a store brought packaged juice.
