S0 what’s new after The Secret ? E-squared is a worthy successor, helping the reader further reinforce the fundamental truth that we create our own reality. Yes, pimples or baby smooth skin, poverty or wealth, success or failure, love or hate, we create every detail of our lives. And since we would rather have all the good stuff than the bad, it makes enormous sense to devote ourselves to understanding how we can manifest a great life. In a refreshingly energetic and light-hearted manner, Pam asks us to conduct nine experiments proving various aspects of the wonderfully provident field of potentiality (or FP as she calls it) that we live in. FP she tells us, is a force that is “dependable, predictable, and available to everyone from St. Francis of Assisi to Barbara Walters.” And just like we use electricity without wondering if we are good enough to do so, she urges us to use the FP in the same matter-of-fact manner. Her explanations about the fundamental truths of life are succinct, funny and memorable, and will help both the novice as well as the seasoned aspirant. The experiments which form the heart of the book, conducted according to scientific protocol with a deadline and a framework, include asking the FP to send us an unexpected unspecified blessing, asking for a specific blessing, sending a thought message to someone, losing weight by simply blessing the food, asking FP for guidance, and proving the abundance and goodness in the universe by keeping track of the many kindnesses that are showered upon us. Of course there is a rider, and that is that these experiments will be successful only if we pay complete attention to our intention without entertaining oppositional thoughts for the period of the experiment, which is generally about two days. In my experience this is hard to do, for controlling the mind for 10 minutes, let alone two days, is a challenge. This is where one falls back on the tried and tested way of aligning with the Universe, through the good solid spiritual work of awareness and acceptance.
Nevertheless, these experiments do work, and they are a lot of fun, so go ahead and try them. What I particularly liked about this book is that unlike The Secret which focussed almost exclusively on manifesting material goodies, Pam shares that in an abundant universe, none of us needs to hoard more than we need, and that focusing on satisfying material desires is to limit ourselves to the lower rungs of life.
My takeaways: blessing any food I eat as a way of ensuring that it does me good and not harm; and resolving sticky relationships issues by sending the other loving blessings.
Both work!
