My life has been strewn with miracles, not just after I entered the path but even before. The only difference is that they seem to have increased after I discerned the laws of life and began to align myself to them.
Because that is all miracles are. Miracles happen when we discern the true nature of life which is spiritual. It is the spiritual that is the cause of the physical and miracles emerge from the domain of the spiritual.
Miracles can be minute such as thinking of a favourite food and having someone come by with it later in the day, hearing the phone ringing, concluding that X is on the phone and finding that X indeed is, calling someone and having them say that they were thinking of you, to occurrences that would seem to require incredible co-ordination on the part of the Universe.
For instance, I was once travelling home late at night by the local train. It was nippy standing near the foyer, so sighing an empty seat I sat down. Just then the lady sitting in front of me lowered the newspaper she was reading. It turned out to be a friend of mine. Silently she showed me the page she was reading. It had an advertisement where the word Suma was prominently displayed. How on earth was it possible that she read the word the very moment I sat in front of her?
Another time, I was contemplating leaving my job and in the next couple of days two job offers came my way, both offering me more than double of what I was earning. When my mother fell ill a couple of years back and was hospitalised with malaria, my health was pretty feeble, My capacity to digest food was low and I had lost about eight kilos. During her hospitalisation, I spent every night in three episodes of about 17 days each in a two-month period, at the hospital with her. Through it all, I thrived.
Despite sleeping less than four hours a night, I had ample energy, and was able to digest even the most chalu hotel food. I even managed to put on most of the weight I lost. Another time, I had happened upon an ayurvedic doctor a couple of weeks before I came down with an attack of rheumatoid arthritis. Starting with my little fingers the excruciating pain travelled to my other fingers and even to my left foot. I had horrible visions of being relegated to a wheelchair. My newly found vaid gave me an oil which he told me would heal me. In four days time, the inflammation, swelling and pain simply drained away!

On another occasion a year before, I contracted low-grade fever. My ayurvedic doctor had once told me that my immunity levels were so low that my body was not capable of getting fever. I welcomed this fever, therefore. On the fifth day, I reluctantly went to my local GP. He immediately pressed the alarm button, ran a series of tests and discovered that I had typhoid. I was put on strict bed rest, but some kind of grace hovered over me right through the period. The fever was low so I was not too uncomfortable and even had a fairly good appetite. All aches and pains mysteriously dropped, The fever was like a massive detox and an arthritic pain around my knees that had persisted for more than four months, simply never returned.
Miracles help you recall that you are not alone in the universe and that there is a loving force protecting you, guiding you, and taking care of you.
