According to the dictionary, a hero is a person who is appreciated and admired for his or her courage, compassion, nobility, and kindness. However, what to interpret from it is individual choice. Some people feel that a hero is a bright athlete, any army men, local cop, or medical professionals. It is all individual choice what to take the actual meaning. Someone who has done great deeds and work, but gets little recognition can be called unsung hero. Unsung heroes are those, who did great sacrifices, but their story is lost somewhere in history. There was no mention about them as they died a humble death, but just as courageous. According to mythology, these were the people in history, who were not given right respect for what they invented or discovered. There are many institutes like Lowell Milken Center who identify and acknowledge the work done by unsung heroes.

So how do you applaud these unsung heroes? How do you show them your appreciation for their kindness or their deeds? Giving them gifts that can make them feel happy or reduce the stress, is definitely a great way to recharge the energy of these unsung heroes. You can also write a note on the gift certificate to show them your appreciation and gratitude. You can be thankful to the volunteer firefighter that lives next door and show them your gratitude and kindness for their deeds. You can thank the person who opened the car lock with you inside, when there was water filling in the basement parking. You can give them a personalized plaque which reads and thanks them for doing what they do to make a difference.

Unsung heroes exhibit true heroism and valor lies in the hearts of exclusive individuals like them. Unsung heroes understand the responsibility that comes with freedom of action. They do not work for getting praise, titles, status or fame. They in fact work none selfishly and voluntarily help under privileged or needy people in distress. Most unsung heroes are not appreciated and the bravest things they do in their lives are only known to them.

If you think about it, there are many unsung heroes from mythology or science related field that have made great inventions. However, their work has gone unnoticed. There are many unsung heroes all around you, if you take a note of them. There are heroes from church who teach your students important values of their lives. They can be the awesome coach, who teaches your kids sportsmanship spirit and good sports. There are those who have fought endlessly for their country and have not given any second thought before risking their lives. These unsung heroes have played a major role for getting freedom for their country. A man who saves a puppy from an accident can also be an unsung hero. This is the right time to know their worth. So use your imagination to find ways to celebrate the deeds of unsung heroes. Try to dig into the past and discover those who performed great work without any credit for that.
