Currently, our cities are not very green and produce a lot of waste. But this does not have to be the case,” claims Ribhu from the social enterprise, WasteLess, based in Auroville. Ribhu Vohra and Chandra Nusselein have been working in the sphere of waste management for three years, doing their best to reduce waste. Their strategy is to teach children how to produce less waste and how to recycle more. And to further the cause, they launched a new card game called ‘Pick It Up’ this Earth Day. The game teaches recycling in a fun, interactive way and can be a sure shot way to reach out to young minds.
Most Indian municipalities do not collect segregated waste and residents feel powerless to change. The team at WasteLess believes than anyone can do the right thing and earn money at the same time. Once you know how to segregate, all you need to do is take your clean waste to them and collect money for doing good for the planet. In this way we can all contribute towards green cities today in India. “The game will soon be available online via eBay India as well as in various Auroville and Pondicherry sales outlets,” he informs.
