I first walked into Life Positive‘s office 16 years ago because I was curious. Not just about consciousness and spiritual growth, but also about people who shared this spiritual interest. I had been touched by the writings of Ralph Waldo Emerson, Thich Nhat Hanh, Chief Seattle, and Sadhguru. But I worried about money – and so I left.

In the years that ensued, I learnt that too many material possessions complicate life, and that simplicity brought balance, freedom and joy to my life. That I needed to release myself from commitments that were not in line with my greatest values. I came back because, like Jean-Paul Sartre said, “Everything has been figured out, except how to live.” And Life Positive and my colleagues continue to guide me on figuring out just that – the best ways to live.

A new world

I’ve been with Life Positive for just a few months, and it’s been a wonderful journey of discoveries. Working in the books division I was bombarded with saints and angels, Wiccans, healers and holistic philosophies. I discovered that a parallel world (that I knew little about) rife with spirituality existed quietly alongside today’s fast-paced, materialistic world, and the wisdom and knowledge it contains is simply amazing. It is a world without boundaries, a world that caters to our spiritual, emotional, mental and physical well-being, not just the material which we seem to place above all else today. I am so happy to be a part of Life Positive and to be able to help get such books out there for people to discover and enjoy.

Spiritual journalist

e are all on a continuum, moving from spiritual childishness to spiritual adolescence and into spiritual maturity. And spiritual maturity is not a function of age, or of the years on the path, but of a powerful and discerning choice from within to cultivate gratitude as a way of being in the world. Compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, forgiveness and patience are riches to achieve. There is only one destination –  a higher consciousness, and knowledge of the oneness of all… I must confess, these words were meaningless before joining Life Positive. I thank the magazine for granting me an opportunity to work as a spiritual journalist for the last four years. I am grateful for the opportunity to interview many evolved teachers and  to read over 50 spiritual books that enabled me to acquire a spiritual understanding of my experiences and actions, and to change my life and live differently.

An evolutionary association

About eight years ago when I joined Life Positive, I had not imagined that this would prove to be way more than a job; I had begun my journey of self-improvement and personal growth. I consider it my good fortune that I have been working for a magazine that has profited me not just professionally, but has also enriched me at a personal level. I have not merely developed my editorial muscles here by vetting copies as an associate editor in this magazine, I have also grown spiritually and emotionally as a person thanks to the wisdom in the articles that I edit for a living. Yet another catalyst for growth has been the opportunity to meet a score of wise souls who are champions in the art of conscious evolved living; and all this has unfolded under the watchful eye of my editor Suma Varughese, my teacher, friend and ever-present guide. Learning to live

 have been working with Life Positive for the last four years and it has been a fantastic journey as I find my colleagues to be motivating and positive. There is a something special about LP which I perceived the moment I joined it.  LP is a like a lovely flower emanating the fragrance of positivity; gradually it begins to seep into you too, so that you begin to live without complaints, and strive for the positive in all situations. Designer with soul

s someone who feared that my creativity and independence would be held at ransom in the service of my employers, I joined Life Positive filled with insecurity and self-doubt. Over the last years, I’ve learned a lot, made stuff I’m proud of, and gained a lot of confidence in my job. And what is more, I got the freedom to express my creativity. Life Positive showed great patience with me, despite my continual designing errors. It gave me immense space to learn from my mistakes. And yes, I’ll gladly admit that here I am a designer without losing my soul and freedom as my efforts, creativity and work are liked, valued  and respected by the organisation.

A transformative medium

the transformation of consumers’ inner worlds through social and political factors has caused a new type of market to emerge, naturally attracting the attention of marketeers over the past years. But being a part of Life Positive as a DGM Marketing, I am motivated to conceive of spirituality not as a product to trade for profit, but a mission to facilitate each and every one who is seeking the truth without belonging to any institutional religion. I strongly believe in Philip Kotler’s quote: “Marketing is not the art of finding clever ways to dispose of what you make. It is the art of creating genuine customer value.”

It’s just three months that I have been a part of the Life Positive family but I feel as if I have been there from a long time. Inner and outer balance

t has been almost a 12-year journey with Life Positive and in this journey I have worked with great senior and junior colleagues in a good atmosphere. Life Positive is a family to me. Through these years, thanks to the spirituality in the ambience and participating in different workshops, I have achieved peace within myself, and with this there is a balance in my inner and outer life as well. The outer balance helps me deal with the material life, with work, society, and family. P for positivity

Life Positive is surely doing justice to its mission by spreading positivity through its magazines and events. Though my journey with Life Positive is still nascent, it has given my life a complete 360 degree turn. The calmness and contentment  on every employee’s face always intrigued me and I wanted that for myself. A year-and-a-half ago when I joined Life Positive, my work got me to interact with evolved people, read articles from the magazine and write on subjects related to spirituality. And today, all I can say is that I am glad I am not who I used to be. If Life Positive can change me it can change anyone. Little did I think I could ever meditate or keep my calm. Getting better and better

Working in any publication’s circulation department is a challenging job in its own right. The work requires being incessantly out in the field for the major part of the week, taking care of the systematic dispatch of the magazine on time, ensuring timely distribution of copies. However, all this was made easy with a team comprising of encouraging managers and supportive colleagues.

Personally too, I started reacting less and less as time passed, and started responding. I have become much more patient over the years and my uncontrollable aggression has taken a backseat.

Though there are plenty of magazines in the market, Life Positive with its spiritually uplifting, positive content is a cut above the rest. On reading it, one gets inspired to think good and do good.  One learns that even though life is full of ups and downs, if we can have control over emotions like anger we can enjoy a happy and prosperous life. In the Life Positive office, people work with each other in full cooperation without bringing their seniority and designation in between. This is something not found in other offices. I have been working at Life Positivemagazine for almost five years as a subscription executive. It is the best place to work in, because I love the atmosphere and the people I interact with. It is encouraging and also satisfying to see that the company recognises your efforts.

Ongoing growth

I have had two excellent years now with this beautiful company. In the beginning, to be honest, I was confused and not sure whether I wanted to work here. Taking the plunge
It has been just a bit more than two months since I joined Life Positive but it feels like I have been here for a long time. I came amidst the brouhaha of the mega Life Positive Delhi Expo and dived headlong into its preparation, amongst many other things. It has been my first stint in managing events of such a genre – so different and so unlike anything I have done so far. Every day, I come across something new yet something so intrinsic to my being which I had hardly acknowledged so far. I am sure I’ll open up to this newness with each passing day and enrich myself with LP’s vast repertoire of stimulating experiences.

A great experience

It’s really a pleasure to write about the Life Positive family, of which I am blessed to be a part of. Although, I have just completed three months here, I am really enjoying my work with Life Positive and have learnt a lot in this short period of time. From negative to positive

Earlier, I was not a strong believer in spirituality, and I was a very negative thinking person. But when I started to work in this organisation.
