The Gita’s Gift
The Bhagavad Gita is India’s book of wisdom and is the supreme source of spiritual knowledge. Based on its teachings and lessons, His Grace, Shri Vrindavanchandra Das, founded the Gauranga Institute for Vedic Education (GIVE), an international NGO that is dedicated to spreading the Vedic wisdom of the Gita throughout the world. The institute is a part of the Hare Krishna movement started by Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu more than 525 years ago and follows in his footsteps by spreading the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita.
Established in 2007, the institute offers multiple courses based on the Gita and teaches its students the majestic life lessons one can draw from the scripture. GIVE believes that knowledge based on the Bhagavad Gita can bring peace and happiness in society. In order to make the valuable lessons of the Gita available to all, Shri Vrindavanchandra Das has created the world’s first audiovisual course on Srimad Bhagavad Gita, which is a thematic study of the Hindu text. The 16-hour long audiovisual course scientifically and logically explains the verses of the Gita for all to understand and imbibe its wisdom. Drawing insights from the text, the course explains how one can apply the Bhagavad Gita in all spheres of day-to-day life to achieve success.
In one of his seminars, Shri Vrindavanchandra Das said that in modern times, we are always short of time. We innovate new technology to save time but instead fall prey to it and become so dependent that we still have no time to spare. He says, “We are always looking for shortcuts. Krishna knew that people in Kalyug will prefer shortcuts, and that is why he gave us one in the form of the Gita, to understand the knowledge of the Vedas. People like Adi Shankaracharya, Ramanujacharya, Madhavacharya, and Vishnu Swami, who were elites in the field of the Vedas (just like Einstein was, in the field of physics), stated that the Bhagavad Gita is actually the essence of all knowledge. In fact, Adi Shankaracharya even went on to state that ‘If the Vedas are the cow, then the Bhagavad Gita is the milk.’”
