The Life Positive Expo, New Delhi, has a power-packed combo of life-changing workshops, insightful discourses, and fabulous takeaways at the exhibition centre. Return home, restored, refreshed and renewed, says Shivi Verma
As the freezing winter loosens its grip over the national capital, and glistening new leaves begin to spring on trees, it is time for a new beginning! Allow the warm and sunny rays of joy and positivity at the Life Positive Expo to dissolve your winter inertia, and restore you to life. Throw those thick quilts aside, put on your snazziest winter wear, and visit the India Habitat Centre on February 21, 22 and 23 for some of the most pathbreaking workshops on personal growth. Listen to Sister BK Shivani’s soul-stirring wisdom, benefit from Swami Nikhilananda’s experiential spiritual observations, and sample exciting takeaways at the exhibition area. Remember, it takes a full year for us to come back to you. So be there!
Here below is a glimpse into the life and times of our speakers and facilitators at the Expo.
Sister BK Shivani of the Brahma Kumaris
Sister BK Shivani needs no introduction. Through her programmes on Aastha channel, this serene lady has been solving the problems of her listeners through her simple, lucid and clear explanation of human tendencies. Her programme, Awakening with Brahma Kumaris, that was started in 2007, had even sceptics glued to the television sets, drawn by her calm and centred wisdom.
Sister Shivani’s articulation on soul consciousness, ego, relationships, communication, human frailities, and strength, have found listeners in India and abroad, and have given the Brahma Kumari movement, unprecedented publicity and recognition. She lives in Gurgaon with her businessman husband. With a gold medal in electronic engineering from the University of Pune, she says, “Science and spirituality are connected. Both say the same things: Don’t believe, experience.”
A hot favourite with delegates, BK Shivani has been an intrinsic part of the Expo for the last few years. This year, too, she will inaugurate the Expo on February 21 at 9.30 am. This is a free event and all are cordially invited.
Swami Nikhilananda Saraswati, regional head of the Chinmyaya Mission, Delhi
Swami Nikhilananda Saraswati is the regional head of the Chinmaya Mission in New Delhi and its centres in Noida, Gurgaon and Faridabad. Swamiji presents Vedanta as a contemporary science of life, vitally important in modern world.
Swamiji spends his time in guiding spiritual seekers, teaching, lecturing, participating in conferences, and overseeing the Mission activities. He conducts regular discourses, study groups, workshops, seminars and spiritual retreats. Swamiji is a regular participant at inter-faith panel discussions in and outside the capital, and has frequently appeared on various television channels. He was invited to the prestigious World Economic Forum at Davos, in January 2011, and to the Indian Economic Summit at Mumbai, in the same year. Swamiji has authored many booklets and articles. His discourses on Upanishads, the Bhagavad Gita, and other scriptural texts, are available in audio and video formats at the Chinmaya Vani Bookshop.

Dr BK Chandra Shekhar: Developing mind, memory and healing power
In December 1998, Chandra Shekhar Tiwari felt some physical discomfort, and started to lose weight. The doctors diagnosed him with cancer, fourth stage of cirrhosis and Hepatitis C at the same time. In his crisis he reached out to God, and God responded. God used to give him what he calls a ‘healing current’ in the state of meditation. He also felt as if all his queries were being answered. Amazingly, he was restored back to lifeand health.
Today, as BK Chandra Shekhar, he believes that his life is a gift given by God, in order to serve mankind. He claims to have rediscovered the missing dimension of medical science and psychology, and has propounded a new theory of healing called Psycho Neurobics. He has written many books related to mind, memory, Psycho Neurobics and Raj yoga. He is also an international memory trainer, motivational speaker, a Guinness World Record holder and Psycho Neurobic specialist.
“Psycho Neurobic exercises are designed to maintain mental fitness, strength and flexibility of the brain, and the whole neurosystem of the body. When we involve our psyche in all activities, it removes neuro-emotional blockages from the neuro-system, allowing the full flow of pranic energy in the body, thus raising its strength and flexibility. SIGFA Healing, which is the best of all, treats you by seeking power from the Almighty. This system of healing is totally natural, and with no side-effects,” he says.
Sanjiv Ranjan: Secrets of Self Healing
Sanjiv Ranjan likes to call a student of life, and finds it difficult to define himself and his work on the parameters of limiting human definitions. He lives in Delhi with his educationist wife and two daughters: Sampada, 10, and Samriddhi, six.
For several years after completing his studies, he worked as a creative director in an ad agency. But something told him that he needed to change course. “When I quit my job, I was completely excited, like a child, as to how things would unfold for me. And I suppose existence had some plans ready. God proposed and I did not dispose. And here I am in a sacred pledge… in service to mankind.” Sanjeev studied several healing modalities such as hypnotherapy from Dr. Sunny Satin, Theta Healing from THINK, Idaho, and Organ Regeneration from Dr. Hazel (Arcady Petrov Foundation). But the biggest and the deepest learning came from the university of the Universe.
He says, “Healing happens when all modalities are dropped and the therapist moves out of the session, when he has the courage to let the situation remain between the client and his personal God. That is when the transformative connection actually happens. Healing is like mother’s milk. It can only be received straight from the source.”
He believes that the function of a healer is to put the child into his mother’s lap. And you don’t need to learn how to do that. There isn’t any right or wrong way to do it. There is no modality which can teach you how to do it.
Dr Rangana Rupavi Choudhuri: Creating inner peace, health and balance
Dr Rangana’s life story is a story of paradoxes. With a PhD in cancer research from Oxford University, she confidently ran multi-billion dollar medical businesses in UK, USA and Europe, until she herself contracted cancer.
“I still remember the phone call as I sat in my car near the Florida coastline. While my head was still reeling, I had a gut inner knowing that surgery was not for me,” she recalls. A year later, Rangana’s mother gifted her the book, The Journey, by Brandon Bays. As she read, she started to understand how repressed emotions, limiting thoughts, and unresolved past events may have led to the abnormal cell growth. She applied all the learnings from the book into her treatment. “The abnormal cells literally flowed out of my body. The doctors and nurses were astounded.” Encouraged, she learned many healing modalities like EFT, Matrix reimprinting, NLP, and others, during the subsequent seven years while still working in the corporate sector. In 2008, she was involved in a car accident that confined her to bed for nine months. At the end of the nine months, she emerged healed, and walked out of her corporate career. She started a free meditation group in London, UK, and people started to come one by one thanks to her training in 200 healing modalities. Eventually, she found the Vitality Living College and now travels around the world delivering seminars to people from all backgrounds, races and cultures to enable personal, professional and spiritual development.
Master Tan Soo Kong: Medical Qigong
Energy, which is known as prana in India is known as qi in China. Master Tan Soo Kong, the teacher of this modality, was very keen on learning Chinese martial arts in his youth. Later, he learnt that to be good in the art, the practice of internal strength and Qigong was essential. He trained under a Qigong Grand Master in 1982 and experienced its healing power. His sinus problem that had plagued him since childhood mystically disappeared after three months of five-day weekly training. In 1992, an elderly Qigong Grand Master in Beijing, who had healed Soo Kong’s friend’s throat cancer in two days, agreed to teach him Medical Qigong. Even though he was sufficiently trained, Soo Kong was still diffident of practising it on other people. Once, while participating in an IT seminar in Bangkok, his Australian friend fell badly ill after eating spicy Thai curry. Soo Kong Qigong tried it on his Aussie friend, and he recovered to his original energetic self within minutes. “This experience marked the start of my journey in using Medical Qigong to help others,” he says. Throwing light upon the modality, he says, “Qigong exercises enhance and move energy (qi) throughout the body in specific ways. The practice of Qigong includes postures, special movement, breathing techniques, specific forms of meditation, visualisation, healing sounds and self-massage.” If you want to know more, attend the workshop.
Marie Elangovan: Harmony of the mind, soul and body through dance
A Bharatanatyam dancer of French-Canadian origin, Marie believes that dance has this capacity to empower us to have a positive attitude towards life. She was a student of Religious Studies at Montreal University when she met her Guru K.J. Govindarajan. It was at that time that she decided to come to India, and dedicate herself to learning Bharatanatyam.
“I simply fell in love with the beauty and purity of the dance style and its devotional aspect,” she says. Marie believes that since emotions are used in dance to interpret various themes, dance helps in having a better control over them. It helps in understanding the connection between a situation or thought, and the emotions resulting as a reaction to them.
She says, “Dance can help us decide which emotions have a positive influence and which do not. We can more actively decide to cultivate certain emotions to the detriment of some others which are harmful.” For this workshop you do not have to be an exponent of Bharatanatyam.
Just join in and let the energy flow through your body.
Dr Trupti Jayin: Past-life Regression
Dr Trupti Jayin was catapulted to national fame when she hosted the famous TV show called Raaz Pichle Janam Ka in 2009. It became the most viewed show on TV, leaving behind even Bigg Boss season 3.
Today, this modality has become one of the most sought-after in resolving complicated issues of life. Even though born in Mumbai, Trupti spent most of her childhood in Mombasa, Kenya. To her, her father was her guru. Deep interest in the human mind led to an MA and M Phil in clinical psychology from Mumbai university. She also worked with the Spastic Society of India, where she counselled challenged children. But the turning point of her life came when her father passed away. After that while conducting sessions she would often hear his voice telling her to do or say certain things to a client, which would turn out to be highly effective.
Trupti dabbled with many modalities but found her true calling in Past-life Regression, which she learnt under Newton Kondaveti. Thereafter, her life changed. Patients discovered that they healed faster and better when Trupti used PLR on them. Says Trupti, “Long-standing resentment and hatred causes souls to incarnate among those they have hated the most. So that a lesson in forgiving is learnt, and karmic debts are done away with. You should forgive others so that you don’t continue the cycle of suffering.” Trupti is planning to begin a new show on past-life therapy soon. Her book on the subject too is on the way.
