I am a Phd research scholar from Bharathiar University, Coimbatore. My first opportunity to present my research findings was at the International Conference on Medicinal Plants and Herbal Drugs (ICMPHD 2010) organised by Pachiappas College, Chennai, in March 2010. I created an aesthetically appealing poster with technical information of my experimental data. I had a great audience and everyone enjoyed my presentation. I was fortunate to win the “Best poster presentation“ award. This first success made me feel great and winning was an amazing feeling. It gave me a sense of pride and boosted my morale. One of the judges complimented me on presenting in a clear and confident manner and also for the fact that I had made a sincere attempt to make the presentation interesting. I will cherish these words of motivation forever. Thankfully, my first success turned out to be a catalyst for my continued consistent success. Till 2016, I feel blessed to say I have won six awards in oral and poster presentations at various conferences and seminars. The first success made me determined to do even better next time, and I improved my performance with experience. In order to move up the ladder of research, an aptitude for presenting papers is important. Apart from the knowledge updation these experiences gave me, I got a great opportunity to interact with experts and inspiring people. I could socialise and meet fellow researchers and establish fine friendships in academic circles. When peer researchers tell me how inspiring they find my presentation, it is beautiful to realise how our little actions can contribute positively to others. I am still passionate about giving my best presentation, something I continue to enjoy.
