Every solution is at the tail of any problem. It is for the mind to be perceptive and realize this simple fact. Problem is a matter or situation regarded as unwelcome or harmful and needing to be dealt with and overcome.
‘ Most people spend more time and energy going round problems than in trying to solve them’ wrote Henry Ford. The TATAS could not set up the NANO factory at Singur , and once Ratan Tata received a text message to set up the factory in Gujarat by then CM of Gujarat and our present PM, Shri Narendra Modi, he grabbed the opportunity and relocated the factory. He was adaptable and razor sharp to seize the opportunity.
The problem needs to be recognized and sooner than later solutions emerge. For this to happen, we need to develop a positive disposition and attitude. And the human mind needs to receptive to fresh ideas and thought processes . It is imperative to break the boundaries and barriers and give the mind a chance to break free from the closet and look at life from a different prism and not be cannonaded by the baggage of the past.
‘ If you have a positive attitude and constantly strive to give your best effort , eventually you will overcome your immediate problems and find you are ready for greater challenges’ writes Pat Riley.
Alcoholics and other addicts have a problem in their negative and destructive thinking. It is a deep sense of inadequacy, guilt, frustration , an inferiority complex which is harbored over a period of time. The defeatist mindset of an alcoholic prevents his recovery process and sobriety. Such individuals are unwilling to accept the problem and continue to habitat in a state of constant denial. The subconscious mind seems to enjoy this vice and habit and do not change physical and mental environs.
The habit needs to be broken and upended. Once the mind accepts the problem , believes that it is helpless and develops a faith in a superior power to upend the pyramid, half the battle is won. Fear of failure needs to be replaced by a belief in a superior power. Faith needs to supplant the negative thought process prevalent in the mind.
Addicts are notorious for being classic escapists. Escapists are highly ungrateful people. Ungrateful to themselves, their family and the society at large. And most importantly ungrateful to the Divine Power which created us. The camera of their minds displays only a tunnel vision , with no light at the end of the day and the mind gets enveloped by darkness.
Once they acknowledge the problem the habit is broken and the addict seeks professional help. For instance an alcoholic can join a rehabilitation centre and then address the problem through the Alcoholic Anonymous. Or seek refuge in the breathing technique of Sudarshan Kriya as imparted in Art of Living or undertake a course in Vipassana. These are all steps to seek redress from the problem.
But the first step is to acknowledge the problem, feel powerless about the quotidian condition and submit to the Divine will. Then the pattern of thought process will undergo a radical change. A strong willed person will not blame his problems on stars and the fate, but make a serious attempt to alter the lifestyle.
This is true of everything in life. A weak student, an individual suffering from bulimia, or an overweight person. None of them are willing to break the habit.
Positive thinking by submission, deep prayer and faith will only engineer a change in the mindset so that the jinx gets broken. The mental image of inferiority complex can be and will be broken. Nature guarantees the transformation. But our mental fatigue and ennui acts as a barrier. The barricade and hurdle need to be broken. And only the power of the mind with immense faith can execite the change.
‘ Every problem has in it the seeds of its own solution. If you don’t have any problems. you don’t get any seeds’ wrote Norman Vincent Peale.
