Achieving happiness is considered to be a human being’s ultimate aim, and plenty of books, discourses, and articles have been dedicated to this human pursuit.
However, what if there is a higher and nobler aim to human existence? As the New Age seems to be gaining ground, subtler and more refined knowledge is gradually entering our lives through young and evolved spiritualists of the modern generation. The book Sundaram Speaks by Hitesh Vashishtha (a healer, meditator, and past life regression therapist trained under Dr Newton and Lakshmi Kondaveti) talks about how cultivating the ability to see beauty, completion, and perfection in a dualist world is a much higher attainment than happiness.
Sundaram (which means ‘beauty’), the entity channelled by Hitesh during his 3 a.m. to 5 a.m. meditations in 2018, is an androgynous energy which is a combination of the consciousness of Maa Kali, Dattatreya Bhagwan, and Mahavatar Babaji.
Sundaram teaches Hitesh how beauty lies in the purpose of everything and everyone that has been created. Anything that has been brought to life is beautiful because it is encoded with the potential to raise the consciousness of the entire existence. He urges people to have a heart for darkness as they walk towards the light. And even though they seem different from the outside, both have a common centre. At its core like light, darkness’s purpose is to nudge you towards the light within. A true seeker will learn to see and appreciate beauty even in the most undesirable things. With less judgment, the hold of darkness on a person loosens, and everything gets bathed in its pure, resplendent, and divine glow. As you grow in this awareness, everything becomes part of the infinite grace you have been blessed with in your life.
In the forthcoming chapters, Sundaram enlightens us about the concepts of time and space and how they play out in various dimensions above and below the earth. Sundaram also reveals the kind of life that is lived by beings on planes higher than earth. A dimension where all is aglow with beauty, perfection, seamlessness, and divinity.
These and many other hitherto unknown realities of the Universe are softly and tenderly revealed in the book, giving the reader the uncanny feel that they are being lovingly whispered to, instead of reading the text. One of the premises of the book which impressed me greatly is that the mind can be trained to experience in abundance whichever virtue it desires to perfect, without depending on external factors. Quoting his own example, Swami Mukundananda shares how, while trying to master public speaking on the Puranas and Upanishads, he was faced with the problem of not having an audience. When he approached his guru Swami Kripaluji Maharaj to help him get a few listeners, the latter said, “My child, lack of inspirstion originates from within and can be eradicated from within as well.”
Swamiji understood the import of his message and learnt to deliver lectures before trees, sheep, irrigation canals, and even a blank wall with full passion, conviction, and vigour. A practice that holds him in good stead even before a teeming audience.
Anyone with a tendency to fool themselves by giving numerous excuses will either hate this book or make it their personal Bible.
