Megha Bajaj is experiencing the magic of moving from doing to be-ing It’s my belief that the journey of a seeker should be a fun one. Somehow we associate too much seriousness to spirituality and have forgotten that the aim of all aims is to find joy, bliss, peace – none of which resonate with undue seriousness. I enjoy myself a lot on the path of self-discovery and love experimenting with different facets of this presence I call me. These days I have been focussing on developing the art of being. To just be. To somehow find that NOW, that stream of consciousness, the Source, and flow with it. I went to a café to experiment on myself. I sat there. I didn’t check my phone restlessly. I didn’t have a laptop. Nor company. I just sat. The simple act was actually quite unnerving to begin with. The waiter asked twice if I was expecting someone. People around me watched me as I tried to watch myself. I realised that the simple act of doing nothing, and being, had become so alien to me as well as others. What should have been the most natural and essential part of our lives, now seemed awkward. I fought the temptation of removing my phone from my bag, and meaninglessly checking my messages for the nth time. As the initial awkwardness started dissolving – as I started feeling a little more comfortable just being in a public place, a stillness enveloped me. I realised Be-ing was the most important part of my being. The dancer dances. The singer sings. The writer writes. And the being must be. Even meditation all along in many ways was me “doing meditation” and hence that too was in the doing and not being zone. When I came home, after nearly two hours of being in the café, I felt a childlike joy. I used to see this state of be-ing as a waste of time. It bored me. It felt empty. But now I knew it was actually the most powerful state to be in. It recharged and rejuvenated my being in ways only be-ing could. We go through times in our life where we feel a little directionless, hopeless, depressed, empty. And the natural tendency is to fill this state up. With meaningless chatter, meaningless activities, and sometimes even meaningless relationships. Anything to get away from that state of emptiness. I am now becoming increasingly aware that in the ebb and flow of life – the emptiness is what leads to fullness… the incompleteness to completeness. Instead of denying it, if we can allow it to devour us as a whole, from there something new would be born. People who seem to be leading really enriched and full lives have always spoken about a great emptiness, or depression that preceded the miracles. The only difference was – they allowed that to be. They didn’t fight that state. They didn’t will it away. Or fill it. They allowed themselves to be in it, and be in it, and be in it – until there was no “it”. Only a BE. Either we are watching TV. Or working. Or eating. Or sleeping. Or, or, or. Somehow, I have committed to myself that each day I must BE. Be is nothing but allowing whatever is, to be. No fighting thoughts. No fighting what comes up. A state of zero resistance and complete surrender. A surrender to what is, as it is. Whether it is peace you are after, or great success – whether it is a beautiful relationship or better health – it is in this state of Be-ing that you will most naturally be able to attract it. In the ebb and flow of life – the emptiness is what leads to fullness… the incompleteness to completeness I am just about beginning to explore this fine art, and highest Science of be-ing. Loving it already and will hopefully have a lot more to share soon.
