Abhay Kumar Shah recommends managing Vitamin B12 deficiency with the help of certain mudras
The word ‘vitamin’ comprises two words: ‘vital’ and ‘minerals.’ Vitamins play an important role in building and maintaining our body. Today, we will talk about one of the most important vitamins—B12.
Importance of B12
Vitamin B12 regulates the health of our nerves. Hence, its deficiency can cause numbness, a tingling sensation, debility of nerves, and loss of hearing and vision too. B12 also affects our psychological health. A lack of it can lead to mood swings, irritability, tension, and depression. Since B12 is responsible for the generation of blood cells, low levels can cause anaemia, especially megaloblastic anaemia. This condition creates weakness, fatigue, and lack of stamina. Pale or yellow skin occurs due to anaemia as well as B12 deficiency-induced increased bilirubin level. This vitamin is essential for brain health, and low levels may cause memory loss and eventually lead to Alzheimer’s disease. Vitamin B12 aids the digestive process, so insufficient levels can cause constipation and gastric trouble. Low levels can increase body heat, which results in mouth ulcers and chapped lips. B12 deficiency also leads to an increase in some chemicals in our body. This affects our cardiovascular health, thus increasing the risk of a heart attack or stroke. B12 plays a role in the regulation of hormone levels too.

Prithvi Mudra
Prithvi Mudra helps to increase the levels of all types of vitamins. It is the best tonic, so just unbottle it!
Prithvi Mudra also regulates the acid levels in our body. B12 in the food is attached to a protein which gets separated with the help of hydrochloric acid in our body during the digestion process, and then it combines with a substance called gastric intrinsic factor to get absorbed into the intestinal lining. High production of acid may make one consume antacids, which can result in low absorption of B12, as low acid levels are unable to separate the protein. Prithvi Mudra works at multiple levels: it increases the B12 levels and facilitates the absorption of the vitamin received from food intake.

Apana Mudra improves the functioning of all the organs in the stomach, thereby aiding the digestion process.
Touch the tips of the middle and the ring finger to the tip of the thumb. Keep the remaining two fingers comfortably straight. Rest the back of the palms on the thighs or knees.
Practise for 30 minutes, twice a day, 50 minutes after meals.
Samana Mudra
Samana Mudra helps a lot in the assimilation process.
Touch the tips of all the fingers to the tip of the thumb. Rest the back of the palms on the thighs or knees.
Practise for 16 minutes, twice a day, 30 minutes after meals.
Surya Mudra
Surya Mudra increases the acid level instantly.
Touch the tip of the ring finger to the bottom of the thumb and place the thumb on the back of the ring finger. Keep the remaining three fingers comfortably straight. Rest the back of the palms on the thighs or knees.
The increased acid level acts upon the food that is consumed, so it is best to practise this mudra for 16 minutes, starting 30 minutes and ending 14 minutes before meals.
