The Akashic Records are the celestial equivalent of our very own Google. By the use of the right keyword, mediums can access information that can throw light into the problems clients are facing, says Nivedita Gogia
…things were finally beginning to return to the place from whence they came.

My mother and her two sisters have established a tradition of meeting once a month for long lunches, gossip and heart-to-heart sharing. My mother was the hostess this month. As I walked in, bearing cups of tea, I heard one of my aunts talk about how one poor darling was not getting married due to her past karma, and needed to do the remedies provided by some pundit.
Back in my room, hugging my hot cup of tea on a drizzly and windy day, I stared out of the window at the lush garden and gently swaying trees, and wondered if the Akashic Records may have helped the young girl overcome her karma and find a life companion.
The Akashic Records are the documentation of everything that has happened so far and could possibly happen, not only to human and living beings, but also to non-living objects. It is a storehouse of all our all thoughts, emotions, feelings, actions, including spoken word, karma, latent impressions, desires, viewpoints, and possible futures. Possible futures because future is not always predetermined. We always have a choice, and our choices determine the course of our life and reveal who we are. The Akashic Records are considered to hold all of this. They are said to be maintained by beings of light, called the Record Keepers, who safeguard and keep the integrity of the records. The Record Keepers make the information available to the mediums, energetically.
The term Akashic Records comes from the Sanskrit word Akasha, which means sky, space or ether. Akasha is considered to be the primary substance from which all things are formed. The champions of the Akashic Records assert that the records have been in existence since the creation of the universe and all the ancient people of different cultures across the world were able to access it in their own ways. Akashic Records also find their mention in the Bible as ‘The Book of Life’, in the Torah as ‘The Book of Remembrance’ and in the Hindu scriptures as ‘The Book of Karma’.
Akashic records are the history of our souls. Ranjini Banerjee, an energy worker from Kolkata, describes the Akashic Records as the Internet. All one needs to do is enter the correct keyword to access the information required. In other words, one simply needs to tune-in to the record keepers to access the information required. It was during a meditation session that the information about Akashic Records was opened to her and data started pouring in, which was when she realised that she needed to work with them. She says that all the energy imprints of the soul _ the energy vibration, thought vibration, feeling vibration _ that is gathered across all dimensions of time, i.e. the past, the present and the potential future, gets recorded in the Akasha or the etheric dimension.
All this information exists in a particular vibrational frequency, which we can tune into. Since all the information is contained ‘up there’, the client needs to pick an area of life they wish to work upon to get information only about that aspect of their life.
Ranjini explains that what we are experiencing now is the effect of what has happened in the past. So the Akashic Records help us, directly, reach the root cause of our present problem in order to resolve it. It may happen that we pass lifetimes to reach this cause. The records work at a very high spiritual level. So the experiences we see as everyday happenings could have a much deeper meaning and a lesson hidden in them which is what we might need to learn. Typically, the healer or the medium states the name of the person who requires the reading, and requests the record keepers to provide the information suitable for that situation.
Stating the client’s name clearly is of significance since each name has a vibrational quality. When the healer uses the name that the client is using in this lifetime (the soul is eternal), they are able to access the exact records pertaining to the client.
The information needed comes from the keepers of the record, mostly, in the form of visions, like a movie or snapshots, or as sentience, wherein the medium just knows what the client needs to know. In the session, the healer discusses the information they have received and how it ties to the client’s current issues. There could be a literal connection between the events of the past and the events happening now, or it could be metaphorical. In case it is metaphorical, the healer and the client discuss what meaning the events hold to the client and what are the lessons that can be learned from it.
Along with such a discussion, the record keepers also suggest ways to ease the client’s situation. This could be something as simple as adding more of a particular colour to their surroundings to making tough life choices that break certain patterns. The action step given by the record keepers is different for everyone. The physical act of doing them is meant to bring about the desired change. There is also a transmission of healing energy that passes from the keeper through the healer to the client. Ranjini observed in her practice that it is better for clients to pick one area at a time. Addressing one area can cause a ripple effect to reveal hidden, troubling issues from other areas and bring them to surface. Thus, healing one part of our life can heal others too.
One client approached Ranjini to resolve a persistent cold and chest congestion that had suddenly resurfaced after a couple of years. The Akashic Records revealed that the problem arose from her paternal line of ancestors, including her father and grandfather. The chest congestion and respiratory discomfort arose from her having inherited from her paternal side an inability to express and fully experience emotions. A lifetime spent as a nun in Goa had also contributed to the problem. The record keepers suggested she write seven letters to whoever she chose. Upon completion of the task, the client did experience relief from her condition.
It is curiosity that leads a lot of people to learn about their past in order to heal it and bring a positive change in their present circumstances. However, keep in mind that the Akashic Records are not just about the past, they are also about spiritual lessons and, possible futures. The Akashic Record reading can be likened to past-life regression, wherein the therapist helps us to travel back in time to the source of the problem and resolve it there by bringing an understanding that it is there, in the past, and the person does not need to carry it to the present.
Nisha (name changed) worked as a software developer with an MNC. But the toxicity at the workplace had begun to affect her. When she heard about the Akashic Records, she decided to go for a reading. Her session revealed that in one of her past births, she had struggled with poverty. This ‘lack’ mentality was carried forward, subconsciously, in this birth and had made her put up with negative environments just so the income source wouldn’t stop. Through the healer, the record keepers suggested some action steps such as lighting a diya everyday and adding more green colour to her work environment. As Nisha did the things she was asked to do and lit the lamp every day, she could connect better with her spiritual guides and receive their messages. Eventually, she was able to move out of that workplace and find a more appropriate and healthy work environment.
Since Akashic Records reveal such insights into a person’s past, the faint of heart might find it unpalatable. Generally, we have such a good image of ourselves that the idea that we could have done something wrong, even if in the past birth, seems unaaceptable.
But change is the only constant. As Samkhya reminds us what was in the morning, is not in the afternoon and what was in the afternoon is not in the evening. We change with every piece of information and experience. We grow. We evolve. Perceptions and attitudes change. Even our cells are renewed and replaced. Why, then, should I think of what I was and what I did years, may be centuries, ago, when I am not even who I was a year ago? Forgiveness of that part of ourselves becomes important. Separating ourselves from the choices we made so long ago is imperative for full healing. You know what, perhaps I will get a healing done myself.
