They say that it takes just a tiny spark to start a blazing fire. Dr Newton Kondaveti exemplifies this statement. He started a tiny spark of unconditional love, joy and healing about a decade ago, through his now famous ‘Life Research Academy’ in Hyderabad. In the process, he ignited many other sparks, which together are blazing the fire of wisdom across India and the world.
He is known as the smiling Buddha, and I think no other description can fit him better. It is easy to be misled by his smile and his youth, but make no mistake, he is a sage (a saint with a laptop), and his wisdom is ageless. Like an iceberg, he knows so much more than he shows. You realise his depth only when you come to know him. As a friend of mine puts it, Dr Newton conveys far more through his silence than he does through his words. As what he conveys through his words is packed with dynamite, you can well imagine the wisdom of his silence.
There are many gems that emanate from him, but my favourite one is ‘Physician heal thyself’. Dr Newton is very particular that his student therapists first heal themselves completely, before taking this learning to others. He himself is a perfect example of a healed person – physically, psychologically, economically, and spiritually. That smile does not shine on for nothing. He is the most non-judgmental person I have come across, appreciating whatever you say by his smiling response, “Wow, that is wonderful!” He is unconditional love personified and offers unconditional space to everyone. His patience is legendary. One of his regression sessions lasted for about eight hours, but he carried on without any food or drink.
At the age of 20, while studying in medical college, he saw himself as a teacher of Buddhist studies, reincarnation and the laws of karma in Takshila University, in one of his meditations. Following this experience he realised that even without reading any Buddhist scriptures he could speak about all the tenets of that religion. It reinforced his belief in past lives, and showed him the purpose of his current life, which he has been pursuing with great passion, dedication, and enthusiasm.A teacher par excellence, he can make complex issues seem like kindergarten stuff. Thus esoteric subjects like past-life regression, breath work, and meditation are handled with a complete scientific approach and explained logically in his inimitable style. No wonder he is recognised as a pioneer spiritual scientist the world over. His aim is to help people understand their purpose in life, and enjoy the human experience with love, harmony and understanding. His mission is to spiritualise Planet Earth by the year 2012, and he is relentlessly working towards realising it. One of the major steps towards this noble work is starting a ‘Life University’, which is going to be fully functional soon. This university will offer certificate, graduate, and post-graduate courses in about 18 areas of study in the field of spiritual science. His wife Dr Lakshmi, a fellow alumnus from Kurnool medical college, ably supports him. The couple travels extensively around the world to conduct seminars, workshops and deliver lectures.
