Ketan Shah, a practitioner of acupressure, is a compassionate and remarkable healer
For most of us, troubled times are a crisis which we would like to get over with as soon as possible and move on. For some, however, they are the trigger to finding a much larger purpose in life.
Ketan Shah went through a traumatic time 16 years ago, when a routine appendicitis surgery he underwent went wrong. A series of operations and treatments later, his condition further deteriorated. Gangrene developed and he was told to accept that a regular operation to keep his gangrene under check would be part of his life. Driven to desperation, he tried various therapies with hope rapidly running out. At this juncture, a friend referred him to Dr Bhojraj, a practitioner of acupressure, who coached him on healing himself through this technique. After one month of diligently following his instructions with the help of his wife, he was completely cured.
People would, at this stage, thank Providence and get back into the rat race.
Not him.
“The financial, social, emotional and physical trauma I underwent made me vow to try and alleviate such suffering,” he says. The physical pain, heavy hospital bills, uncertainty and the many well-intended but highly disturbing comments that had led to a period of intense stress for himself and his family, made him think, “When a cost-free solution is available, why are we not using it to relieve pain and trauma?”
learnt the technique thoroughly and now runs a clinic in Bangalore, where he has healed more than 60,000 patients, though he also juggles a job as the director of an engineering firm in Bangalore. His wife, Yogini Shah, too, has learnt the technique and helps him in his work and so does his daughter, Harshita.
Miracle Worker
“God has his way of working out his miracles and for me, that miracle happened through Ketan Bhai,” says Shyamala Nawab from Bangalore. Suffering from a gynecological disorder, Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), since the age of 15, she was on medication with the dosage increasing on and off. Three years after her first child, the disease went totally out of control and she started bleeding profusely and incessantly for many days in a month. At this stage, she tried various other therapies but nothing worked. A friend suggested Mr Ketan Shah. To her astonishment, he was able to stem the bleeding instantly and after a few months, she was completely cured. Much to the surprise of her gynecologist who had ruled out such a possibility, she conceived and delivered her second child, coincidentally a year after meeting Mr Shah.
Mrs Sunita Sheth from Mumbai had two spinal operations and a foot drop. She could not walk properly, certainly could not drive and all normal life ceased. Ketanbhai entered her life through the reference of a mutual friend and all this changed. Now, she is completely normal and cannot stop singing his praises.
Bipin Mehta, a former hotelier from Akola, Maharashtra, had a kidney transplant around 15 years ago. Recently, his kidney started failing again and, at more or less the same time, he also developed cirrhosis of the liver. With severely restricted movements and a dependency on frequent dialysis, he came to Bangalore to meet Mr Shah. Within 15 days, he started walking and moving around with the dialysis sessions rapidly reducing. Hopeful that he will soon be free of all dependencies, he says gratefully, “I can never thank Mr Shah enough for the transformation he has brought about in my life.”
Going on the Right Track
When Shyamala Nawab’s 10-year-old nephew, Sachin, suffered from persistent skin rashes which everyone attributed to infection, Mr Shah diagnosed it was improper breathing that was causing the rash and cured the child easily.
In many cases, people treat the symptom and not the cause of a problem, which is often multi-faceted,” observes Mr Shah, who has honed his diagnostic skills with practice and study. He applies pulse diagnosis and other methods to pinpoint the exact nature of the problem and only then proceeds with the actual healing.
Self-Help
“It’s wonderful to be able to eat like a normal person and run and exercise like I used to,” says Mrs Shiba Mehra, a fitness instructor from Delhi. Sheeba had not been able to eat anything other than boiled food for a long period because of acute acidity, had given up running due to the development of cramps and often used to get exhausted because of her hectic routine. Learning the key points to relieve all of these, she is totally at ease and is extremely grateful to Mr Shah for bringing about such a drastic change in her life.
After an operation for removing the stones in his gall bladder, Nandini Mohan’s father-in law suffered from frequent stomach upsets and fatigue. Recounting the time Mr Shah healed him, Nandini says, “Wishing to make us more self-reliant, Mr Shah made sure I knew exactly how and where to apply pressure on him.”
Indeed, Mr Shah’s ultimate aim is to empower people and free them of all dependencies, including a dependency on him.
Beyond Acupressure
Pursuing healing with an unmatched zeal, Mr Shah applies not just one, but many techniques for doing so, merging all of them to provide a totally holistic solution.
A reiki practitioner, he uses reiki and has even performed reiki surgery. He also applies the principles of Vaastu to advise patients on the optimal resting place.
The indefatigable healer is now working on studying sound vibrations that can be used to diagnose the condition of patients through the frequency produced by their voice. “This will be particularly helpful in understanding the condition of people whom I only speak to on the phone,” he says.
In these mercenary times when everything is for sale, Ketan Shah is the epitome of the Vedic prayer, “Sarve bhavantu niramaya” (“May all beings be free of disease”).
to freeing people from financial worry when seeking to get healed, he and his wife do not charge any money for treatment, accepting only voluntary donations. This too has an altruistic purpose. With such donations, they plan to expand the area of the clinic to accommodate more people and provide a place for outstation patients to free them from the financial and logistical problem of fending for themselves.
Truly, the miracle is not just in the healing, but in the selfless dedication of this couple to relieving the world’s suffering.
