Won Ki works on the principle that illness attacks when the energy we receive on birth dwindles, and we die when the energy is completely depleted. Health therefore can be obtained by enhancing the energy, says Nipun Augustin Jacob
While delivering a sermon, a revered priest quoted from the Bible, “Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” I wondered then that if God’s breath was so powerful in keeping us alive, why did our energy deplete and the life cycle end one day? It was not clear to me until I went to New Millennium Health Centre in Gurgaon to experience Won Ki – an ancient miraculous alternative healing therapy.
Energy matters
Won Ki is the energy of the universe that is received by the body when life is created. It works on the principle that we die when the energy we receive at the time of birth is consumed completely, and our bodies are attacked by diseases when we are low on the energy. Therefore healing can happen when we connect to the Source of this energy. The Won Ki energy healing system helps us connect to the Higher Consciousness by simple chanting, gentle exercises, and meditative techniques.

Won Ki is also known as Korean Yoga for the Indian population. Presently, there are centres in Gurgaon, Panchkula and Shimla in India. The Gurgaon centre is managed by Jonghyun Baek and Jinsong Kim who have been sent to India by their grandmaster, IL Kwang, who has put in years of dedication into this practice solely for healing incurable conditions.
On entering the New Millennium Health Centre in Gurgaon, I was given a dress consisting of a white top, blue pyjamas and a robe, somewhat similar to a martial arts outfit. Won Ki is conducted by sunsas, which in Korean means healers. The training and healing session that lasts for an hour begins with the chant ‘Chun Moon Soo Ryon.’ The chant recited at the beginning of Won Ki training, helps to tune one’s own frequency with that of the universe. It translates the sound of the universe into human sound and also adjusts the wavelength of the human body. Won Ki consists of two elements – training and healing. General Manager, Jinsong Kim, says, “The training prepares the body for effective healing and sunsas transfer their pure energy to the patients during healing sessions. Healing alone can also be done in case the patient does not have time or inclination for training. But the results are amazing when the two are combined.”
A trainee who chose not to disclose his name at the centre wore an air of ineffable satisfaction when he elaborated on the miraculous results achieved within two months of Won Ki practice. “I was diagnosed with obsessive compulsive disorder about 10 years ago because of many setbacks and traumas I endured since childhood. Anti-depressant medicines did not help. I went from pillar to post trying all possible alternative therapies, until I finally discovered Won Ki. Now I am able to reduce my medication to half without any relapse of illness. The sunsas say and my gut feeling concurs that I will be free of medication in the next four to six months if I practice Won Ki regularly,” says he.
Narinder Kumar from Solan, Himachal Pradesh, suffered from arthritis and high blood pressure for many years. He says, “After three sittings I have been able to do my work effortlessly. My BP also stabilised.” There are other success stories as well. Sampath Dhiman who had a digestive ailment for many years, says, “Won Ki treatment in my view is a spiritual healing therapy. However, for any healing, one needs to be regular and keep a positive attitude. I am now feeling rejuvenated and I am certain that my stomach problem will be healed completely. The best part about this practice is the lack of greed amongst the healers which is so rare these days.”
Clearing the blocked ki
Won Ki is a completely not-for-profit system of healing. A patient is charged Rs 100 for a healing session. Won Ki training can be done anywhere but for proper results, you need a special environment.

Won Ki training is done in front of the image of life to receive Won Ki from the universe and then it transmits to the human body. The image of life which is called ‘Chilbo’ is an embodiment representing the underlying abilities of mind and principles of the universe which exists as wind, light and Ki. The energy in the universe is too huge and Chilbo acts as a transformer to fuse this energy.
“Most trainees experience the positive changes in the first or second week. Toxic and negative energy is flushed out of the body clearing the blocked Ki to flow seamlessly. Won Ki training uses original vital energy so it has no side-effects. The motions are easy, so people of all ages and even those with physical disability too can do it. Trainees always have to invoke gratitude,” says Jinsong Kim.
Most of the diseases originate from the mind, according to the Won Ki sunsas. The origin of some cancers have been attributed to stress, negative thinking or obsession, which even science endorses today. Centre manager, Jonghyun Baek, says, “A trainee has to implant positive thoughts into the mind. During meditation, he should affirm, ‘I am full of ki, all the cells in my body are now revitalised so I am healthier.’ The continued positive belief will cure the disease.”
Won Ki treatment strengthens the natural self-healing system and cleanses a person’s karma as well. Before a sunsa starts the process of healing, he cleanses his own mind and body and connects his ki to that of the receiver. The receiver’s condition or ailment is recognised by the sunsa, and then he gives intense ki energy to release the pain, suffering, or disease. A session of Won Ki leaves the recipient relaxed and refreshed.
The health benefits of Won Ki practice have been documented thrice in the American Journal of Chinese Medicine. Won Ki training reinforces immunity in the body. It helps to keep the mind stable, body healthy and spirit connected with God. The training increases secretion of hormones like endorphins and other growth hormones. It also increases the amount of oxygen and reduces the carbon dioxide in the blood. Jinsong Kim adds, “Our motto is to be righteous in all aspects – in mind, in behaviour and in all ways. Respect nature, universe, and ancestors. Indians are spiritual by birth. They are taught to respect God. This makes it easy for them to receive the energy during the treatment of heart diseases, blood pressure, diabetes, thyroid, weight loss, arthritis, chronic constipation, acidity, and hormonal problems.”
