Remedy for Stiffness If your target is flexibility, then aim for it by stretching like a bow, says Kamala Venkat
•
Inhale and try to stretch your arms backwards and try to grab the right-foot
toes with the right-hand fingers and theleft-foot toes with the left-hand fingers.
• Exhale and slowly pull your legs upwards by raising your knees above the floor. At the same time, lift your head and chest off the mat. (If you are a beginner, you
may use a rolled blanket or a yoga block under the knees. It will provide you with extra support.)
• Then allow your abdomen to bear the weight of the body. (Try to lift the ribs and thighs above the floor. While lifting
the legs, do not join the knees or do not Dhanurasana is also known as Bow Pose.
In Sanskrit, dhanush means ‘bow’ and asana means ‘posture.’ The final position of this pose resembles a bow. Just as a well-strung bow is an asset to a warrior, a well-stretched body helps to keep you flexible with a good posture.
Method
• Start this pose by lying fully prostrate on a mat. Try to keep both legs together and place your forehead against the mat, arms by the side of your thighs.
• Slowly lift your feet from the mat, bend your legs at the knees, and bring your feet up behind you.

• Maintain the Bow Pose for a few minutes and do normal inhalation and exhalation. Slowly lower your hands and legs to the mat, return to the initial position, and relax.
