The Birth of a Star
Sudha Chandran was born to Telugu parents in Mumbai. She was the only child of her parents. As she grew up, her inclination towards dancing and cultural arts began surfacing. Seeing her enthusiasm for dancing, her father chose to enroll her in a dancing institute at an early age. She began dancing at an extremely youthful age of 3 and gave her first stage performance at a young age of 8. Also, she learned dancing alongside her studies, and when she had turned 16, she was already a rising star of the dancing world with 75 stage performances under her belt. Sudha was a splendid student in academics as well. Although, dancing has always been her first love.
A Blessing Disguised As A Tragedy
Only four months before her sixteenth birthday celebration, she met with an accident while traveling in a bus in Tamil Nadu. Her right leg got damaged with a fracture and a few cuts. Because of the sudden rush of critical patients, she was attended by medical interns who didn't see the cuts on her right lower leg. They simply wrapped her leg with POP plaster. It leads to gangrene and the specialists was left with no other way but to cut off her right leg 7.5 inches below the knee to prevent the infection from spreading.
Sudha was devastated. Everything she hoped for and her dreams of making a name in the dancing world was crushed, and she just couldn't do anything about it. Negative thoughts-depression, anger, frustration overwhelmed her.
Be that as it may, she was not a quitter. Her passion for dancing made her walk again with the assistance of an artificial limb. She began utilizing Jaipur leg (an elastic based manufactured artificial limb), and it took her four months to walk straight with them.
