What is hypnosis?
You have at some or the other point in life, felt hypnosis. Often in your everyday life, in fact.
Hypnosis happens, for example, when completely involved in watching a movie or a game, driving on a familiar route where you don’t quite remember parts of the journey, waking minutes before the alarm on a significant day, reading an absorbing book, daydreaming or getting a whiff of a scent that takes you back in time to a memory that is long stored in your mind.
Call it daze / trance / daydreaming, it is all the same - a relaxed state of mind where you have focused attention on one object while attention to any other is temporarily suspended. In this state the body and conscious mind are lax, while the subconscious mind is awake and receptive.
Hypnotherapy, simply put, is therapy under hypnosis. Hypnotic suggestions bypass the intellectual mind, called the "conscious", and zero in on the subconscious - where lie our imagination, emotions, memories, automatic body responses, habit patterns, and most deeply held beliefs about ourselves and what we believe is possible for us. It’s easy to see then why hypnotherapy is as effective as it is - because it speaks to and alters behaviors from, somewhat, the root.

After becoming a Reiki Grandmaster, she co-founded White Lighthouse, the center for spiritual wellbeing with Alaknanda Dutta, an integrated energy healer, and a spiritual facilitator. Gayatri also facilitates interactive awareness forums and various meditation workshops at my Center. Her interest lies in making more and more people aware of the innate healing abilities they possess and empowering them to take charge of their lives to create a more fulfilling and peaceful life for themselves.
