Serving all living creatures
My favourite fable is Gajendra Moksham (moksha of the elephant) from the Hindu Puranas which is why I always felt sad for our animals, especially in the wild, who are not taken care of. They are seen being abused in circuses and even temples with us not knowing or caring about what they are going through. This makes me cry as I like many others dont know whom to go to for help. Things seem to be changing now fortunately.
On another note, when many of us feel the young are irresponsible and don’t care for anything, I beg to differ. The young of today are much more aware and responsible that I ever was at that age. They dont just think but take the necessary steps.
We can see this in the actions of Anant Ambani who is using his wealth for the right reasons. A new initiative, Vantara in Jamnagar, whose sponsor and prime mover is Anant Ambani from the Ambani clan is an initiative from the heart for the most vulnerable.
Launched in July 2024, the initiative provides care and protection to all injured animals, with a focus on elephants, in 3000 acres of land and aims to provide care to this much neglected species in India.
Currently 300-400 elephants have been rescued from places like circuses where they were abused and being given suitable care. Nothing happens overnight but this is certainly a step in the right direction. Instead of turning out to be a spoilt brat splurging money, Anant is hearing the call of the unheard and acting on it too. This is certainly worth appreciating in times when we feel the world is going to a generation that is going to only make it worse. I believe there will be a turn of events soon in the coming era with the new generation turning to spirituality in action. This is what true karma yoga is, spirituality shown in our actions and deeds which many of us seem to have forgotten. The young however are action oriented and remind us of this key tenet through their actions. For instance, We all know all beings are from the same creator but always neglect the ones who do not have a voice to protest or ask for help. However, this action of Anant has certainly given me hope for humanity as the current generation is learning the right lessons of morality and working on it too.
