Why Mental Health is So Important for Students

The mental health of students is important for many different reasons. Poor mental health can have a negative effect on their academic performance, coping skills, social relationships, and future success. It is just as important as physical health and critically important if they want to reach their full potential.  

Academic performance

Mental health is closely associated with academic performance. When students struggle with mental health issues, they are unable to concentrate. It is often hard for them to learn and retain new information. They may have a negative picture of their future, so they have little motivation to perform. 

Good mental health is associated with more creativity and productivity. Students are able to focus more and retain information. They have more desire to learn and absorb new information.
