Create pools of compassion
We often wonder why we need to help others. The fact is, this is perhaps the best wellness pill of all.
I used to work in a software company earlier. No project, no achievement has given me as much pleasure as educating a young boy, the son of our peon, who could not afford a good education at that time.
This is one incident that proves to me personally how much helping another has helped me. I am certain we all have many such incidents, minor or major, that prove the same thing to us. Surely, it is high time we recognise this as a major thing we can aim to work towards in the best possible way.
We would need to try and do this in at least small ways to make the world a better place. The world begins with our world. Just like little drops make an ocean, little acts of compassion make the world a compassionate place.
When we work on helping others, the happiness it brings us will have a compound effect on our life.
When we put out more positivity into the world, it brings about more positive people, events, and circumstances.
The feeling we get from this is a better mind and a better feeling overall.
Our sense of identity also gets better.
We must know we are not just what we do in our jobs. We are givers and philanthropists. We need not have a lot of money to give. Every bit matters.
We actually live in a world with too many distractions, especially of the stressful kind. Hence, it is indeed easy to forget about the importance of helping others. However, the creator does give us many opportunities all the time to enable us to do so.
Instead of always focusing on our own lives, our own priorities, and our own goals, let us focus on others too.
Let us explore why it’s not only important but vital to help others, without expectation, and let us see how we can do so from now on.
The fact is we all are children of the same creator. It may seem like we are scattered and separated, we are all connected.
Healthwise also, our blood pressure lowers and we find more meaning and purpose in life.
Helping those in need promotes better behavioral patterns in teens and young adults, teaching them to be generous in society.
It can make us live longer.
It is scientifically proven that helping others reduces stress directly correlating to a smaller risk of disease and depression
It also connects us to others. We connect personally with the people we try to aid and be in an ecosystem where we will also attract other good people around you.
Like minded people coming together wishing to help does indeed create a better surrounding and a better world. This is what is called a satsang in India. Sat means good and sang means group.
Let us begin forming satsangs or pools of compassion now.
